I just watched a Sci-fi channel original movie "EarthStorm". There were many ployholes and sci-errors that prevented me from suspending my Disbeleif.
1) The gravity vector on the shuttle was ALWAYS wrong, wit respect to velocity, acceleration, & massive objects.
2) In many daylight scyscapes where the moon was present the lit side of the moon was directly opposit from where it should be based on the shadows of terestrial objects on the ground.

Social Networking for Network Engineers:
Early in life I was but a poor end device, relying on other devices for my social networking, I had the one interface to the family and did not understand the idea of anything beyond that. Any traffic from outside my segment was carefully firewalled out by my parrents.
As I grew up I learned more more abstract concepts.
In Jr High & Highschool I joined multiple V-Lans and had different interfaces in different networks. There was the School interface with a V-lan for Theater, Chess, RPG's, and classmates. There was the Church V-lan in wit V-lans for CYO... and there was the Work V-lan. While some other device had interfaces on these networks and were members of many of the same V-lans, I tended to keep traffic seperate. I did not do much routing or repeating. There were some firewalls in installed to protect me from intrusion, but they sometimes also got in the way of comunication.
In college my network became even more complex. Some of the networks i was on were switches instead of hubs, there were many more V-lans, and some of my peers relied on me for some very basic routing capibilities.
This level of capacity has served me fairly well for quite some time. Sure the number of my interfaces slowly creapt up as I chose to join more networks &/or V-lans, But the routing between those networks was still minimal and the the firewalls had some confusing rules.
I think it's time I upgraded again and optimized my firewall / router settings. It's time I became tried to become a larger network switch with integrated router & firewall capabilities.
I have decided to try to introduce devices on what I beleive to be sepeerate networks to each other. Time to increase my ability to be a conduit thru which others can connect, and encourage them to be willing to be a conduit for me to connect to their other networks. It's time to implement a better routing protocol!

I was asked "what is the meaning of relationship to you?" and "what do you look for in a relationship".
This got me thinking. I actually use a really broad definition for relationship: Any social interaction grouping of individuals into couples or groups is a relationship.
With that broad of a definition of what is a relationship we can take an Sci-Fi approach to catagorizing the different types of relationships and the terms we commonly use to "define" relationships. I know full well that different people use the same terms to mean different things (even within a relationship).
So let me postulate that any relationship can be defined by an N-Dimensional model with Neigh-infinate scales for each axes or aspect of the relationship.
Oddly there is some overlap even in the scales and any time we try to put things into words we are caught in the catch 22 of implication, inference, & interpritation that obsfucate even the most well thought out model for modeling real world relationships.
So lets start with the following aspects or axes for our N-Dimensional model (please suggest others):
family vs not family
Family vs non family is not a measure of genitic matching, but is open to adopted (leagally & figurativly) family.
Intimate vs casual
On this scale I am think of physical or sexual intimacy.
Exclusive vs open
Exclusivity is probably the easist to clearly define. some might say you are either exclusive or you are not... But I disagree there are shades of gray even here.
comited vs not comited
Level of comitment has to do with how important the relationship is to you. You can be as comited to keeping something casual as one might be to keeping something sexual. level of comitment is like inerta and mass. (stagnant relationships tend to stay stagnent, relationships in transition tend to stay in transition, --- that is untill acted upon by some force or influence)
emotional vs analitical
This would be a measure of the amount of emotion there is involved and has multiple aspectes or axise within it (Love - Hate; Jelousy; anger; Lust; contentment; desire; etc.) or how important these emotions are to the relationship.
contractual vs non binding
The amount of legal responcibility and how formally a relationsip is defined in the eyes of contractual law.
Once we have a set of axes and a scale for the axes we can start to look at the individual terms we use for different types of relationships and see how different people rate them on each scale or axes. An example of some of these terms are: co-workers, aquaintences, Friends, Casual Dateing, going out, going steady, Signifigant other, Long term signifigant other, Life Partner, or Marrage, boyfriend, girlfriend, lover, business partner, employer, Employee, teamate, roomate, etc.
Now let me ask you for your thoughts:
What other aspects or axes should I include?
am I being too Analitical in my approach to defining the nature of specific relationships?
I've had diner & a movie dates not get to the movie before....
Some have ended well, as in back at my place with "no Regrets".
Some have ended with ambiviolence (a simple decision not to go see a movie after all).
But tonight is a first; I was stood up after diner & before the movie.
We had met downtown and came by seperate cars to the resturant. The conversation over diner was nothing to brag about, no "sparks flew", but there were no obvious signs that things would end the way they did. After 2 hrs and $90 worth of food & beverage we were to ajourn to a theater a couple miles away. We decided not to car pool from downtown to the theater; but we did leave it with a "I'll see you at teh Century 16 theater in a couple minutes for that 9:40 movie". No ambiguity there.
I got form the resturant to the theater fairly quickly ands was there by 9:27. There in only 1 lobby and only one ticket counter. By 9:33 I had the two tickets and was waiting. At 9:35 I called her cell to make sure she was ok;... Even with the worst traffic there should not have been 10 min difference in travel time... it wasn't that far. I got voicemail. I tried again at 9:50 and a final time at 10:05 before going in to see the 9:40 movie.
I hope she wasn't in an accident.

Dear Sirs,
Well I pay for cable solely for the quality of the programing on the
SciFi Chanel. I enjoy Battle Star Galactica, The Gates, Firefly, Dark
Angel, Eureka and many other shows found only on SciFi. I beleive that
programing like this promotes thought ind enspires us to look beyond the now
and dream about a brighter tomorrow.
While I will grant you (all be it begrudgingly)that the Paranormal shows
at least have shoem Psudo-Science and there for qualify them for Science
Fiction, it seems that your programing department is going soft of the Sci
in SciFi. Or did the programing department at the SciFi Chanel forget what
the characters Sci in SciFi Stand for?
For instance lets discuss the ECW. This show, like any other "professional"
wresteling is obviously fiction, but where is the Sceince? If I wanted
"professional" Wresteling I would subscribe to or tune to a chanel for that
topic. If you want to add Sci try putting the wresterlers in Wire gear and
pretend that the ring is an "anti-Grav".
Then there is "who wants to be a Superhero". Here you have "reality TV
Meets Fiction". There seems to be no Sicence to this fantasy either. The
scifi chanell should not be about what sells best to the baser idiots, but
what stimulates thoughts thru Science Fiction.
Please do not diverge from your genra like MTV which gave up the "music";
PER ASPER AD ASTRA instead (It's Laten look it up).

I just sent this story out to a dozen or so people whom I have corresponded once, twice, or no times, and never met in person with whom I would like to take out to diner, a movie, or just coffee.... Let's see how it works as a pick-up line.
The Story:
The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 Cups of Coffee
When things in your lives seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of coffee.
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.
The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.
The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."
The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.
"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things -- your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.
The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.
The sand is everything else --- the small stuff. "If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. "Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18.
There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first --- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."
One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Last night i was up late watching a couple shows on the History chanel covering omens, revelations, and proficies.... This evening I discover that my microwave likes to spontaniously press it's 6 button seemingly at random when noone is anywhere near it.
Coincidance?
As many of you are aware there is a plethora of Nigerian 419 Scams being perpetrated on Americans by the citizens of a few countres in West Africa. One form of this scam is the "overpayment refund" veriant that works as follows.
-- The victom has some item for sale or rent or a service that they provide and has an add online.
-- The fraud begins when the scammer responds and makes arrangement to pay for said item, rental or service in advance.
-- The check is a certified check or money order drawn on an international source for more then the Rental, Service, or Item.
-- The US bank is by law only allowed to hold the money for a set number of days whether or not the check clears so the funds will show in the US account before the Check can clear the bank it's drawn on.
-- The scamer asks for a refund of the overpaymnet, or deposit, or cancles the order and asks for a refund.
-- Since the funds are nolonger held the victom thinks they have the money (when in fact they have their local banks money, but are still liable if the check bounces).
-- The victom sends the overpayment back or the refund...
-- Little do they know 30 to 45 days later their bank removes the original deposit and charges a bounced check fee because there were no funds in the international account to cover the check and it has bounced.
Alas the best way to mitigate ones risk is to NOT accept funds from international sources.
Why DO I have so much experience with this? well... I have a room for rent that I advertised online. I have received more international responces then local responces. All of them want to Send me money now even whenI insist that any payment transactions must be done in person. All I ask them for to "hold the room" for their arrival is proof of pending travel to Alaska (They can't be driveign from Africa to Alaska so.... they should be buying a ticket...).
SO far after a couple e-mail exchanges they have all given up.
As I look out my windows I am amazed by the spectacular array of civil disobedience I see around me. I can look in any direction and there are half a dozen different illegal displays of New Years Joy going off at any given moment, and it’s been happening for the past 30 minutes.
What am I talking about? Fireworks! Private lighting of fireworks are illegal inside the municipality of Anchorage and yet in any direction I look I can identify 6 or more distinctly different private launch points, some with quite awe inspiring displays.
No none are as interesting as the Smiley-faced or shaped fireworks I saw in San Francisco off the peer in the bay or as grandiose as those I watched from the shore of the Hudson river being launched off of barges and rooftops on the 4th of July in years past; But amazing none the less.
Why am I amazed? I would estimate that at least 15% of the population of Anchorage is involved in this show of civil disobedience in one way or another; most with little regards for safety, other then to make sure people step back from the launch point.
A friend was mentioning the other day that they were suprised that the fireworks merchants in the valley were allowed to advertise their merchandise in the city. I pointed out to them that the merchants had no obligation to police where their customers were from or how their customers would use the pyrotechnics.
Ahh….. It’s 12:30 and all seems quiet again. Happy New Year Everyone!!

I've always considered the first fiew dates to be like or similar to an interview process for jobs. It's all about figuring out if the opertunity is a fit. That their is not to great a disparity in wants & needs. That each party brings something to the table that can help each other grow and progress...
Like jobs, the openings become appareant because you know someone who has an opening. The same can be tre in dateing, relationships, and even friendships. the whole "hay your should meet my friends _____ {Sister, COusin, friend, etc...}.
In a Job hunt there are references, both listing business and personal references as well as formal letters of reccomendation. What is the functional equivilant of a reference or a letter of reference in the social scene? Would you feel imposed upon if someone you went out with for a little while asked you to be a reference for them (socially). What about asking someone you had a relationship with and asking them to write a letter of reference?
Now comes the Strang request. If you know me personally and we have gone out (whether on a date or just as friends) would you consider writeing something like this for me? or receiving calls from people checking my "references"?
I am not good at stainng large peices of wood.
My skill in this needs practice. I cant get a consistant color across the same door let alone between doors. Some are real dark, others real light, and others a little blotchy.
The really light one have the most consistant color, but they do not have the color I was looking for. the directions say that you can let the peice sit for 5-15 minutes before wipreing off the excess stain, but if I wait 10 minutes The stain is so dry it doesn't "wipe" easy and it's blotchy or looks too dark.

Do not Apply stain to a door in direct sunlight. It will dry blotchy before you can use the rag to sipe off the excess.
Ok An many of you know when I purchased my house in Anchorage 18 months ago I got an Unfinished basement. Over the past 18 months I have put a lot of time and effort into finishing that down, and recently I have had plenty of spare time to spend this way. I have got all the framing up and all of the sheetrock up for every room except the Master Bath. The Taping & mudding of joints and seams is taking longer then I would expect...
So that's where you come in. I am staging a Crew Call for this upcoming Weekend (Friday March 25th thru Sunday March 27th). I have supplies and tools for about 6 people And will be hard at it all weekend. If you feel the urge or are willing to assist drop by! If you are from in Town (Anchorage) feel free to drop by unannounced (if you know where I live) or post for directions. If you are from out of town RSVP for sleeping space in the Finished area of the house. There are currently a queen and two king sized bed's available plus plenty of Carpeted floor space. *( Note : If you are an Attractive woman between the age of 20 and 36 and we hit it off other arrangements may be made).
If you have your own tools... feel free to bring them.
My goal is to have the area taped, mudded, sanded, and masked in preparation for painting (Seal coat / Primer) on Monday. Given that when I and three friends attacked parts of this project over the past weekend we only got the first coat of the inside corners for 3 of 4 walls in the master bedroom and some of the laundry closet done in 6 hrs last saturday; This is an extremely aggressive and optimistic plan.
If you let me know your coming I'll make arrangements for food.

Hi All.
As many of you know when I bought my house 18 Months ago I got an unfinished downstairs or basement. I've been working on it off & on the past 18 months (more recently now that I have had more time...) and I have reached a point where I could use help...
My walls are all framed in and the Sheetrock is up but the Joint compound component (inside corners) is taking longer then I had anticipated. I think I have all the materials I need and enough tools for 6+ people to be Taping & Mudding simultaneously so.....
If you find that you have free time on your hands this upcoming weekend (Friday 3/25 thru Sunday 3/27) and are willing and able to assist... Drop by and lend a hand! The more the merrier!! (If you have your own tools for mud / compound work feel free to bring them).
Basically, I'd Like to get it Mudded, sanded, masked and prepped for primer/sealer by Monday 3/28.
So if your in Anchorage drop by on a whim. I am once again in the job market. I am looking for work in any industry where the company has a need to helpdesk / pc support/ systems administration to the point that they have an IT staff of 3 or more and an opening for an IT manager.
Preferably in Anchorage Alaska.
But I am willing to relocate to:

If you know of any such openings let me know. Especially if the company is growing rapidly, has major upgrades in the near future, and the IT staff still needs to be hired.

The company I work for has a strict policy relating to internal distribution lists and e-mail use.
The policy basically states that internal distribution lists are to be for our companies business purposes only.
The policy relating to corporate e-mail states that all personal e-mail should be kept to a bare minimum.
Part of my role is to assist in the enforcement of this policy.
Our President & CEO sent out a scathing e-mail about a month ago chastizing employees for abusing these policies and our e-mail system.

The other day I figured out how to trick my Sauna into getting up to 208 Degrees Farenhight. It was wonderfull.

256mb Memory sticks do not have the capacity to store much in the line of data. I’m in flight listening to MP3’s stored on 2 of these while I use my laptop to create journal entries. I can’t help but wonder how fule efficient this is in compairison to just loading them onto the laptops hard drive. Is the power used in the solidstate device compairable to that used in the operation of a hard drive?
My second trip to Cali came up all of a sudden with only a couple days notice. This trip was neither for business nor for pleasure. It was in response to the situation mentioned in an earlier post. I am away (and Writing as time allows) currently due to a death in the Family.
Thursday:
I flew out of Anchorage early Thursday morning with my brother and his family. The plan trip was fairly non-enlightening. I read a book the entire way. The two times I tired of my book and went to pull out the laptop to write I got interrupted before typing more then one line by the announcements to turn it off for landing.
Friday:
On Friday we spent the day with my sister on Mandeville Island. It is a private Island / Duck-club at which he worked as both a Guide and a manager. The place is Private property owned by a wealthy developer, and as such has some fairly high end accommodations for a Hunting club. We passed by the scene of the accident both going to the Island and coming from it. Today I learned more about the accident. The following is the best I have been able to piece together from 2nd hand accounts:

Friday Evening:
Friday evening was spent in the company you Friends from the Stockton area who were close with my brother-in-law and my sister. There was much shared grief, stories, and discussion of what should or should not be part of the plans for the service & internment the next day.
Saturday:
The services started at 10 am and there were many people in attendance. More then the funeral home could easily accommodate. The services were very apropos to the life times of my brother-in-law. Mention was of-course made to the fact that he was proceeded by his father almost 5 years ago, and that he leves behind his Wife, his mother, and his sister.
Much of the focus of the stories related to his biggest hobby/interest: Hunting.
From the service there was an hr drive out into the country for the internment then another hr drive back into the city for a reception. At ther internment there was somewhere between 80 and 100 people in attendance. The site was about 20’ away from the site his father is burryed which is next to a spot reserved for his mother.
The reception that evening was also well attended. Many co-workers, friends, and acquaintances appeared to mourn together, talk about my brother-in-law, and celebrate his life. He was a man both loved and respected in his community.
Sunday:
Sunday was a quiet day spent in a beautiful waterfront park with family only. It was a day spent in quiet relaxation.
Monday
Monday was for packing & goodbye’s, andother quiet family day.
A couple weekends ago I traveled to the bay area fro pleasure. My brother’s girlfriend was planning a surprise 40th birthday party (2 months early) for my brother.
Friday:
I flew out of Anchorage late Thursday night and arrived in Oakland Friday morning at about 7am. Coyo picked me up at the Airport and took me to the company formerly known as Kick. I hung out there for the morning to catch up with former cow-orkers . We went to Tu-Lan for lunch. After lunch we played cards back at the office of the company formerly known as Kick. After work Coyo and I ran errands in preparation for the surprise party/camping trip.
Saturday:
It was a smashing success. The surprise was sprung at the Tiburon Ferry terminal, Coyo & I arrived minutes too late to catch the ferry with most of the party. About 18 friends showed up from around the bay area plus a couple from LA, Myself from Alaska, and another friend from Michigan. We had a great diner for Fresh Kenai red salmon ( a full set of fillets – a whole fish), Chicken, and too much beer for a lunch / diner. Some people left to head back to land, only 9-10 of us stayed over night.
After watching the sun set behind the Marin headlands (did I mention we were camping on Angle Island?) we went back to our cook fire to heat some reindeer sausage on buns.
Sunday
After a wonderfully plentifull campng breakfast including the remainder of the sausage in scrambled eggs with some other vegetable matter and (unavoidably) parts of things that were neighter Plant nor Anamal, but members of the middle Kingdom.
After leaving the Island My brother, his girlfriend, I, and his friend from Michigan went to a Pixies concert in Berkley, at Berkley. Following the concert they dropped me back at Coyo’s house for the night.
Monday:
Monday I spent driving around in Coyo’s car while he was off at work re-familiarizing myself with the bay area. No major excitement for the bulk of the day, a little sight seeing and some shopping errands.
Monday Night I met up with a friend in the Venture capital ‘industry’. We went to Diner in the Noe Valley area at a restaurant called Incognito. As we got reacquainted and caught up on changes in our lives I learned that business was encouraging her to pick up and move to Shanghi. I dropped her off at her house, mais alas she neglected to invite me in so I headed back to Coyo’s place for the night.
Tuesday:
The next day I Commuted with Coyo back to the offices of the company formerly known as Kick where my brother picked me up. We headed back to his house where I helped him debug a computer issue (hard drive dieing a slow death) then he showed me the next generation of MMORPG that he is in the beta for. So I ran around as a Ratunga Nubie for a little while.
He dropped me back at a Bart station with all my luggage and gear and I made my way back to the Oakland airport for my flight back to Alaska.

It’s been A while since I wrote a journal entry with any real content other then the short note of a couple days ago. But now I am in flight again and have time to write.
I’ll start with a about my two trips to California in Chronological order.

On this past Saturday between 5:05 pm and 5:25 PM my brother-in-law passed away on the side of a road in the Sacremento Delta due to a car crash.
I'll be in Stockton this upcomeing weekend for the services on Saturday.

I was just woken up by a phone call. The call was trivial... but the dream was odd.
It starts out with me traveling to meet friends but there being a change of plans.
Sometime while I am traveling I get a Call from someone warning me that If my eyes start burning and feeling dry or scratchy go see a doctor immediately because you can loose your eyesight in 24 hrs. (* I know where this fear came from; in RL my mom recently warned be about something similar but flue like symptoms going around right now that someone in Kenai died from within 72 hrs *)
Next thing I know I have sold my house and I was buying a new house... Supposedly in my same neighborhood, but the land was much larger. The layout for the garage was partially sub-grade and under the entire house and it had a large covered entry stair and a big deck or the start of a gazebo in the front yard that was still under construction.
Here my dream was jumping around because at one point I was backing a trailer loaded with landscaping bricks into the drive and parking it and the ca for the night, then a moment later I was in the Garage with a half dozen co-workers (a lawyer I work with, and a friend from Jersey who's doing back-country camping here in Alaska next week) talking about leaving room for the head of the lands department at work to park at this house.
Again my perspective changes because I am wondering what happened to my old (or RL current) House. So I have what amounts to an Out of body experience in the dream where I can see thru walls. I float up then look and over so that I am above the existing house a few doors down and look down thru its structure to see a black woman that on retrospect looks like a neighbor from growing up in Kenai that lived across the street for a few years. She is in my current garage spreading concrete to fill in some grease pits that don’t exist in RL but I must have put in prior to selling the house.
Again my perspective shifts. I am in the bay area but I don't know where. I am talking to some younger guy that is familiar; he looks like someone I worked with on DS crew. He was a Carpenter, a tall blond kid with shaggy hair that was crew while I was in Grad school (perhaps Grease?). We were meeting someone at a "Johnnie Rockets" like diner that was upstairs.
The new person was smaller and younger and had dark hare and a narrow unfamiliar face. The three of us took an odd shaped booth and sat down and were drinking milkshakes. I told them about the blindness thing that's going around and that a friend of mine in San Francisco just recently caught it (sorry Rich your blind) suddenly there were more people at the booth and it was larger and shaped differently.
With the shift in population and shape of the booth I also shifted geography. I am not in the bay area anymore but I am in Upstate New York in a town called Schenectady. one of the new people was an elderly lady (50-60) talking about growing up and being instructed by nuns. I think to ask her if she knew my mother who grew up near here but don’t because she would be 15 to 20 years my moms junior. The conversation is interrupted by a call from Coyo. He warned me that the Blindness problem is spreading he is going blind as we speak.
Now I am no longer in the Diner but traveling with my most recent Ex-girlfriend (Aileen). We land in Kenai and pick up our luggage. WE meet up with my sister Mary at the airport and Aileen gives her and I both big ceramic mugs (3" dia, 8" tall). We’re taking a bus (a Public Transportation System IN KENAI??) to my house. On the bus are other Siblings (Bob & Cathy) as well as friends of my Parents (Leon & Mary Q.) and my mom. I am describing to everyone what the symptoms of the blindness thing are and how it progresses over 24 hrs. Everyone gives their sympathies for my friends who caught it, and we discuss why the people who caught it were susceptible. I point out that it must be contagious because rich & wolf work together, and wolf might have been at higher risk due to having had corrective surgery on his eyes. The conversation turns to the Q's asking if we got my mom's Christmas wish list. we discuss what's on that for a little while and suddenly were getting off the public transit buss at the corner of Spur highway and Forest drive we all throw the bags (from the airplane) into the bed of a pick-up and my mom (who is now there ) insists we walk Back to the Carrs mall (it's hasn't really been a active mall for about a decade now). The blind friends (Coyo & rich) are there dressed as blues brothers except add canes with white tips. They seem to be walking in the same direction and can get around marvelously well for blind people. They are walking side by side with the canes over their arms and not using them for navigation or obstacle detection.
So now we are walking back to the mall it's Bob, Mary, Cathy, & My mom followed by Aileen and I, then followed by Rich and Coyo. We pass the road to the beach & Our Lady Of the Angles church, and cover ground quickly. were strolling at a quick clip faster then I have seen my mom walk in decades and covering ground 3 times as fast as our pace would allow in RL). Rich & Coyo are not keeping up, but since these blind fools can get around quite well for never having been to Kenai before and not being able to see. They are walking with the confidence of someone who knows where they are, is in familiar surroundings and has 20/20 vision.
As we come to the Carrs parking lot Aileen is skipping and acting like a rambunctious kid and she somehow (with her ceramic mug) hops up into my moms arms. Bob reacts to this and playfully tackles them both. Aileen is hurt and crying but Mary points out that our ceramic mugs are all still ok.
I let everyone else go on explaining that Aileen is ok, it's only a superficial hurt, but she is very sensitive to pain and would be bruised and cry over spilt milk. (I have no Idea where that analogy came from). Am leaning over Aileen trying to cheer her up, get her up, treat any wounds she may have and stop her crying.......
As I am awakened by the phone ringing I "know" the following:
Mary & mom have headed to the stores, bob and Cathy, are getting the vehicle we had parked at the mall, and I am helping Aileen to her feet and tending to her.
All I can say is this was a very detailed dream. While in it I could have descried the color, texture, shape, and layout of everything around me. But now those details have faded to something ore like spot color because I can not swing my RL attention around fast enough and focus it on these details to record them in conscious memory or transfer that sub-conscious detail to paper.
It’s 2 am in Alaska. Do you know where your newly blind friends ended up? And why were Aileen and I acting like a couple in the dream?

Being only 5'2" is not bad when modeling in a small space (Sauna). The bigest problem is I suspect that you are not local to Anchorage Alaska where the Sauna is at.

As I stated earlier I started internet dateing again.
Oddly enough 3 of the five wemen I am chatting with online and building the potential for a date are all studying nursing, two work in Elder-care and one is an EMT... but all 3 are under 21...

Finally, after 3.5 years of sleeping on a california king sized fouton mattress I finally brok down and bought a regular king mattress and box spring. It may be too short. I may want a Cali-King mattress again in a few more months. Even so, I have plent of roms to make into spare bedrooms or guest rooms, so extra mattresses (at a cost of $299 a set) are a worthy expense. It was cheaper for me to buy this matterss set then to get a room for a weekend in a lofal hotel.
This evening I measured the hight of my lawn. Many blades were over 4.5" tall and most were at least 3.5" tall. This means for the first time it is time to cut it. So I got out my mower and cut it all back to an even 2".
Now I go to Fertalize and Water.
last weekend I went fishing on the Kenai river with my brother and his wife on their boat. We were trying to catch King Salmon. 30 - 60# would have been nice.
We awoke at 3am and got on the river by 4am.
10 hrs later in the mid afternoon when we finally packed it in I walked away with Jack.
Neither my brother nor his wife caught anything.
A Jack is a King salmon that is to young to spawn that mistakenly returned to fresh water years to soon. Once it enters the river it's not going back out to sea and since it can't spawn there is no point to it being there and it serves no purpose to the contuation of the harvest so.... the limit is 10 per person per day fish between the sizes of 10-20"... they do not count against your King limit (1 per day, max 2 per season).
The other evening I had my Sauna up over 191 degrees. (it must have been hoter then that -- I think I maxed out the thurmostat I was using).
It was great!
When I was finished I turned everything off properly... but the next day it failed to come back on when asked.
Unfortunatly when you trip the "overheat" detection circuit you have to let the unit (and the room) COOL to about 70 before you can reset it. It took a day and a half for it to cool to the point that I could reset it and I was begining to get concerned that something else was the problem.
I finally have some pics up of my neigh completed sauna and my Front yard with wall..

I have benches, Sideing, Ceiling, heater, rails, door, Latch & handle all done on my sauna... It's completely operational and fully functional.
The only thing left to do is the floor. Right now it's just the chip-board subfloor.
Perhaps I'll borrow a camera and post some pics. (if only I knew where to find the models to show it off...)

Like the previous time I was single I have decided to try online personals once again. So I put up a personal add on Yahoo (A couple people in my friends list I met thru Online personals). The picture on the personals site is the same as my default image here.

I had a work day today (yes on a saturday).
The agenda was:
1) earthquake proof our Server cabinets.
2) Do proventive maintenance, patches, etc.
3) Audit our firewalls and optimize our bandwidth utilization between our DSL lines, our cable modem & our T1.
Do tasks 1-3 for 2 facilities.
If completed quickly then optional tasks were
Do some routine maintenance to our poor subsidiaries ancient nt4.0 server.
Tasks 1 & 2 went without a major hitch at both facilities.
Task 3 went well after dealing with two oopses provided by our DNS hosting agents and one of our DSL providers. (rerouting inbound traffic for mission critical services to the T1). then we realized that we were missing an integral peice of hardware because the 1760 routerrs did not have the feature set we needed.
This was all completed between 8:30 am and 4:30 PM. (I was there by 7:45 cause I am the manager and had to perp some things and set a good example) Since we were scheduled to be there to 5:30 we decided to address one of the Poor cousens problems by removeing a Failed tape drive and adding a CD rom drive.
The number one risk when rebooting a 7.5 year old server is that something will fail.. In this case two scsi drives failed one had the boot partition and part of a spanned (yes SPANNED) data partition, the other was taken down with it because it was the second half of the SPAN (Raid 0 is Lovely!)
8 more hrs later I have a restore from back-up going to a rebuilt machine that now has 2 bigger drives in a mirroring configuration housing those same 2 logical drives.
I am crossing my fingers hopeing that the most recient successfull back-up can restore the NT domain data successfully. It will be another 10 hrs before I know.
Anyone know a good Data recovery company that deals with physical hard drive failures? Some of the past few days worth of changes to an accoounting package may be worth recovering that way.
The contractors are going slow on the retaining wall.
But they are doing Quality work.

Well other then a slight mis allignment on the front wall... it doesn't parrellel the street (9"run over 15') so they will be removeing the blocks there and re stacking them in the right place..

I made progress on the sauna.
One wall has it's sideing in, and the cedar cealing is 80% done.
The heater is hear but waiting on the sideing on that wall before getting mounted & wired.
The door is ready to be hung in it's frame, and the frame is ready to be placed in the wall....
